Miss Ja’Leah Hickmon
"Lots of opportunities have been granted in my position and I’m more than thankful to receive and uphold them and many more to come.”
Our April edition of the Monthly Spotlight Series switches up our focus to shine a light on the wonderful students from our area who are also scholarship recipients. Our first Student Spotlight shines on Miss JaLeah Hickmon from Newton, MS.
Miss Hickmon is the Daughter of Shan’Neeci Brown-Gibson
She is a student-Athlete from Newton, MS where she graduated high school #3 in her class!
Miss Hickmon is a JSUNAA Meridian-Lauderdale County Chapter Scholarship recipient in 2021
She is attending Jackson State University on a Basketball Scholarship (#23)
In her very first year on the JSU Women's Basketball team, she and her teammates earned the title of SWAC and Regular Season Champions!
Miss Hickmon is an Education major who plans to become a Mathematics Teacher
While this is her first year at JSU, she has enough college hours to be classified as a Sophomore because of the college courses she took in high school.
Ja'Leah finished her first semester at JSU with a 3.8 GPA
As a Student volunteer, she helped make this year's Blue-Tie Gala event a success.
We love our fellow JSU Tiger Alumni family! We are growing and always looking to connect with local JSU Family, friends, and supporters to help connect students with opportunities!
